Making disciples of Jesus Christ

Missions

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.
Matthew 25:35-37

 Mission Projects
The Missions Committee of Woodbine UMC joins with the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) and Volunteers in Mission (VIM) to provide opportunities to make a real difference in the lives of the world's poor and marginalized.  These opportunities are local, national, and international.

~ The Missions Team has built several wheel chair ramps in Woodbine for those who need them, and has also done some minor home renovations for the handicapped.

~ Woodbine UMC has sponsored four Volunteers in Missions teams in recent years.  In 2001, a team went to the Dominican Republic; in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 teams went to Vancleave Mississippi to help with the rebuilding that is still necessary after Hurricane Katrina.  In 2012, the Team went to Manchester, GA to build a home that had been destroyed in the Spring storms.

Free Lunches for Shut-ins and local residents
Each Tuesday, a free nutritious lunch is delivered to local area shut-ins. Our lunch program is now feeding over 100 people a week.  We are grateful for all donations of money or food.  We prepare and deliver meals every Tuesday morning and help is always welcome to serve and ready meals for delivery. If you have an abundance in your garden, we would love to include fresh vegetables in our meals.  Please let Teresa Sawyer know Sunday if you would like to supply vegetables for the Tuesday meal. If you need a lunch delivered, please call the church office at 576-5457.

Linda N. Warnock Endowment Fund
Established in 2004, the Endowment Fund has been working to support medical needs, educational assistance and mission work.  It is the intent of the Board of Directors that the Endowment Fund stand in the gap between need and eligibility for assistance.  In order to perpetuate this vision, the Endowment Fund relies on your prayers and donations.  To make a donation or to learn more about ways the Linda N. Warnock Fund can assist those in need of financial assistance, please contact the church office: (912)576-5457 or wumc@tds.net .

Food Pantry

Clothing Closet
We are also blessed to be able to house an assortment of clothing for children and adults.  This ministry, along with the Food Pantry, is supported by donations.  Those in need are welcome to visit the Clothing Closet Monday through Thursday.   Please contact the church office for details: (912)576-5457 or wumc@tds.net .  Donations of gently used, washed and ready to wear clothing as well as hangers are appreciated.
